Chwarae Teg will be strengthened with the appointment of four new board members with diverse national and international experience as the charity moves forwards with ambitious plans to make Wales a world leader in gender equality.

Chwarae Teg is Wales’s leading gender equality charity and works to develop women’s economic potential, by supporting their careers and working with organisations and employers to develop modern work places and practices where women achieve and prosper. The charity’s board is responsible for assisting the Chief Executive and senior management team with the strategic direction of Chwarae Teg and ensuring compliance in line with legislative and funding requirements.

The four new board members are:

Shikala Mansfield who has a background of working in both the Public and Private Sector including FTSE 100 blue-chip organisations. Her expertise includes strategic planning, management of re-engineering business process through major organisational restructuring, workforce planning and development, continuous improvement and project management. She currently works in NHS Wales and is a Board Member for Cardiff City Football Foundation Club and the Vice Chair of School Governors in Cardiff.

Jo Hicks who is the national director of Academi Wales has over 20 years of experience in leadership and organisational development across both the public and private sectors. Jo is an experienced strategic leader, practitioner and facilitator, holding a range of post graduate qualifications and professional memberships, having trained at Harvard on the areas of leadership and management development.

Robert Lamb who is the Director of International Investment & Industry at Expectation State, a company that works to increase the quantity and quality of private sector investment in conflict-affected countries. Robert has significant expertise in investment decision making and the negotiation of commercial arrangements. Robert is also a Trustee of Ty Hafan.

Nicola Olsen is a Chartered Accountant with who has 20 years’ experience in a variety of industries and sectors from large multinationals to smaller not for profits. Nicola has previously held management roles in several companies, most recently as Group Finance Manager for a multinational ATM deployer.

Jo Hicks – National Director of Academi Wales, Welsh Government

Jo has over 20 years’ experience in Leadership and Organisational Development across both the public and private sectors and is currently Director of Academi Wales within Welsh Government.
As part of her all Wales role, Jo leads a team of internal and external leadership practitioners and consultants, focusing on and supporting Chief Executives, Boards, Executive Teams, Senior Professionals and public appointed officials.
Jo’s responsibilities include developing new and innovative programmes and opportunities that build leadership and organisational development capacity and capability across Welsh public services.
Jo is an experienced strategic leader, practitioner and facilitator, holding a range of post graduate qualifications and professional memberships, having trained at Harvard on the areas of leadership and management development.
Jo has represented her country at the Young Leaders Forum in Sydney, Australia and at the G20Y Summit in Montreux, Switzerland and the Behaviour Exchange Conference Harvard. Jo is an ILM 7 executive coach, accredited 360º, mental toughness and emotional intelligence feedback facilitator and is currently a member of the UK Government Taskforce on Public Service Leadership.

She currently works in NHS Wales.
She is a Board Member for Cardiff City Football Foundation Club and the Vice Chair of School Governors in Cardiff.
Shikala has wide range of interest from organising large scale events to raise funds for charities, mentoring and coaching to speaking at events.

Robert Lamb – Director of International Investment & Industry at Expectation State

Robert is Director of International Investment & Industry at Expectation State, a company that works to increase the quantity and quality of private sector investment in conflict-affected countries. Previously, Robert held senior leadership roles at one of the world’s leading private equity investment managers that has made more than $50 billion of long-term investments in private companies, private real estate and private infrastructure, on behalf of public and private stakeholders worldwide. Robert has significant expertise in investment decision making and the negotiation of commercial arrangements, having been personally responsible for the acquisition and management of more than $8 billion of investment capital in the UK, Middle East, and Africa, and having served as a voting member on a number of investment committees. Robert is also a Trustee of Ty Hafan, the Welsh paediatric palliative care charity and is a native Welsh speaker.

Nicola Olsen – Group Finance Manager – (Formerly – NoteMachine)

Nicola Olsen is a Chartered Accountant with an MBA from Oxford Brooke’s. She has 20 years experience in a variety of industries and sectors from large multinationals to smaller not for profits. Nicola has previously held management roles in several companies, most recently as Group Finance Manager for a multinational ATM deployer. Nicolas key skills lie in coaching and developing staff and managing change.
Nicola lives in Monmouthshire with her three year old daughter.
