“I first had access to the incubator space at Chwarae Teg’s Cardiff office when I was in the early days of setting up my business.
I was really pleased to have won a bursary to have six months office space, along with support with marketing and finance. I found the support and space too great to let go of, so I stayed!”
“Almost 2 years in, I wanted to share with you why I have this as my office base, because it’s too good an offer to turn down.
Some of the downsides people mention when you run your own business are things like having everything at home which means you can never leave work at the front door, isolation from a lack of colleagues, struggling with wifi in coffee shops…
And in particularly for me, who set up my business whilst on maternity leave, was the good old ‘you can work from the kitchen table whilst the baby plays’!
Having an office base meant that my family and, more importantly, my clients took me seriously.
What do I particularly love about being here? On a practical level the rent is less than the cost of a couple of coffees in Starbucks, the wifi works, there’s parking (rare in the city centre), and there are plenty of bookable spaces for meetings and events.
The Zen Den is perfect for quiet space on a stressful day and the honest feedback on project plans is invaluable.
Also, its lovely to have the friendly buzz the Chwarae Teg and other incubator workers bring, whom are now my colleagues too – not many self-employed people can say they have a team around for Friday drinks! Overall, it’s a competitively priced, has all the practical things you need and a great atmosphere, a no brainer really!”
