Dark Sky Wales and Chwarae Teg present:
Sky’s Her Limit
Girls and women are particularly under-represented in engineering, physics and computer science, from the uptake of these subjects at A-level through to university and in the UK Women make up only 14.4% of the overall STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) workforce.
With this in mind Dark Sky Wales and Chwarae Teg have joined forces to create ‘Sky’s Her Limit’ an interactive programme of science based activities for girls, which will engage and inspire the next generation of female scientists.
These free events will include a variety of science activities for the girls to participate in to include career talks with female scientists, a planetarium teaching the girls all about the night sky, telescopes, coding and much more.
Over the course of 8 events across Wales we will be engaging with 2,000 girls in year 7 to year 9, encouraging them to consider pursuing a qualification and a career within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) based industries.
These sessions are aimed at year 7 to year 9 secondary students and can be delivered in-house for your students.
