We are pleased to announce that Slater & Gordon are a partner sponsor at this year’s Womenspire Awards!
We spoke to Paralegal – Tamsyn Crofts, about the organisation and what it means to them to be part of Womenspire18!
Q1. Tell us about your organisation
Slater and Gordon Lawyers is one of the UK’s largest and well known law firms, with over 90 years’ experience and offices in a number of locations throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Our reputation is built on the range of expertise offered by our partners, staff and on the scope of their practical experience, which is reflected in the Awards the firm has won over the years, including being in the Top Ranked in Chambers & Partners UK 2018; a firm Recommended by Headway 2018; and winning Personal Injury – Team of the year 2017.
In May of this year Slater and Gordon announced plans to invest over £30m on new technology and broadening services over the next three years to transform the way people access legal expertise in the UK, with the aim of becoming the UK’s number one Consumer Law Firm by 2021.
Q2. Why are you supporting the awards?
The Womenspire Awards is a fantastic event which brings businesses and individuals together to celebrate the achievements of women across Wales. As a firm who are founded in offering equal opportunities for women, it is important to us that the ground-breaking progress being made is revered.
The message that women who are supported in their respective fields can accomplish extraordinary things resonates with our firm, where women represent 70% of our workforce.
Slater and Gordon are proud to be a part of the Womenspire Awards 2018 in supporting and investing in the progression of female leadership both today, and for the generations to come.
Q3. Why does gender equality matter to you?
At Slater and Gordon we believe that gender equality is an everyone issue. As a firm we’ve moved past the assumption that gender equality is limited to creating opportunities for women. It’s been proven by market research that companies which embrace gender equality outperform those companies who are in the bottom rankings for equality. Diversity in our leadership unleashes a collective genius and creates a platform for more diverse ways of thinking.
We fully support the government’s initiative to eliminate the gender pay bias, in order to demonstrate our commitment to equality within the workplace, decided to go beyond the minimum requirements and publish our complete gender pay and bonus gap figures – including all LLP members – in our Gender Pay Gap Report.
Addressing the gender pay gap has become a cornerstone of our “One in 21” strategy, and we aim to eliminate this within the next three years.
